This page explains what personal data this site collects, why it collects it, and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible
I, Bandar Alhattab, run this site and decide how the personal data collected on it is used. You can write to me through the contact page.

The email list
When you subscribe through any sign-up form on this site and tick the consent box, I keep your email address to send you what you asked for: new essays when I publish them, one email when the book is published, or both. Every email carries a link to unsubscribe.

The contact form
If you write to me through the contact form and tick the consent box, I receive your name, email address, subject and message, and I use them to reply to you.

Server logs
The hosting provider keeps technical server logs, such as the IP address, the browser type and the pages requested, to run and secure the site.

Cookies, fonts and statistics
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Its fonts are served from the site itself, and the essays load no images from other sites. Visit statistics come from a tool that uses no cookies and reports aggregate figures.

Who processes data for me, and where
The service providers that process data for this site are the hosting and content delivery network, the email list service, the form delivery service, the mailbox that receives contact messages, and the visit statistics service. The hosting and content delivery network, the visit statistics service, the email list service and the form delivery service process the data outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

How long data is kept
When you unsubscribe, your email address is deleted from the list. Contact messages are deleted from my inbox after 12 months. Server logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider's own policy.

Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Law, you have the right to access your personal data, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, write to me through the contact page; I may need to confirm your identity first.

Children
This site is not aimed at children, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
